The IMPO creates and implements short and long range plans to advance the region’s goals in transportation, economic development, housing, safety, sustainability, and other quality of life issues.

Central Indiana Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS)

The U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) defines the Comprehensive Economic Strategy (CEDS) as a strategy-driven plan for regional economic development. It is designed to build capacity and guide the economic prosperity and resiliency of a region and provides the capacity-building foundation for different sectors (private, government, non-profit) to work in conjunction with one another to create the environment for regional economic prosperity. Transit Oriented Development (TOD)

As part of the Indianapolis MPO's Strategic Plan, regional land use planning was identified as a key area for improvement. The MPO and its partner agencies, the City of Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development and IndyGo, are coordinating advisory panels regarding transit-oriented development in targeted corridors within Marion County.

Trail Oriented Development (TrOD)

The intention of this study is to identify success factors for Trail Oriented Development (TrOD), potential nodes on the existing/planned trail network, potential development guidelines, and potential tools for overcoming identified obstacles to success.
