Comprehensive and Transportation Plans

Comprehensive plans include the collective vision and goals for a community, and strategies for how to meet the vision and accomplish the goals. They guide community decision makers on matters of land use and development, and often also include guidance on utility, transportation, recreation, and housing investments.

Transportation or thoroughfare plans are key components of a community's comprehensive plan. They recommend how people and goods should move throughout the community and how to design infrastructure to support that movement. Transportation plans also provide details on where new roadways and other facilities will be constructed.
