PUBLIC MEETING WAS HELD TO INTRODUCE DRAFT INDIANAPOLIS REGIONAL CENTER DESIGN GUIDELINES INDIANAPOLIS MULTI-MODAL AND PUBLIC SPACE GUIDELINES

The Indianapolis Urban Design Oversight Committee hosted a public meeting at the Indianapolis Artsgarden from 4:00 – 5:30 pm on Thursday March 22. 2007 to introduce the public to the Indianapolis Regional Center Design Guidelines and Indianapolis Multi-Modal and Public Space Guidelines.  This meeting launched a six week public review period before both documents are considered by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Development Commission for adoption.

Both documents were developed over a two-year period through a partnership between the City of Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization, Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, the Urban Design Oversight Committee and Ball State's College of Architecture & Planning Indianapolis Center.  Funding for the initiative came from both public and private sources, with substantial in-kind support from all primary partners.

The guidelines are intended to protect downtown investment by reinforcing downtown Indianapolis as an efficient, sustainable and vital place in which to live, work, learn and spend free time.
